The Films

The American Film Manufacturing Company released more than 1,200 titles between the fall of 1910 and the spring of 1921. Beginning with one reelers and split reelers, which usually combined a short comedy with a topical subject, the Flying A grew along with the industry and evolved to features of five, six or seven reels.

This searchable database contains information about these films. The filmography takes its seed from Appendix B in Tim Lyon’s THE SILENT PARTNER: The History of the American Film Manufacturing Company, 1972. A significant amount of material, both surviving film prints and manuscripts, have been located since Tim’s doctoral thesis. Researching, verifying and entering the information is an ongoing activity and your patience is appreciated. Please contact us if you have any information or material to share.
