Edward A. Coxen

Director and Actor
Confirmed Years:   1912-1917
Biography:

Mr. Coxen played in many shorts for Flying A and was briefly in charge of the second company in 1913 before the return of Thomas Ricketts to the staff. Coxen then returned to acting roles.

"He is a good-looking, virile young man and a mainly lover. He was born in London and as an infant made the voyage to America with his parents. They journeyed on to San Francisco, California, where he secured his education. Mr. Coxen spent some time at the University of California, at Berkeley, and then launched out on a commercial career. From this he drifted into prospecting and took up civil engineering; but, as he puts it, "a problem in mathematics intersted me only so long as it remained unsolved, " so he followed the bent of his heart and sought the foot-lights.

In 1906 he spoke his first line at the Majestic Theater, San Francisco. After the big fire there he played in " Ye Liberty" at Oakland, and then played stock, such as Balasco's Alcazar, Felice Morris, Liebler and others. For the past two years he has played in pictures with great success and he has won a large following among ardent picture fans throughout the country."
