Story Summary:
Will Harrington and his wife are making money on their ranch, but when they read of the possibilities of great wealth in gold at Twin Buttes, they determine to go and buy. As is usual the grafter is around, and they fall victim to his wiles. The gold claim that they have bought is a salted one, and when Will breaks a piece of the precious-looking mineral off, he is astonished to find that it is only plain rock. Mrs. Harrington is a resourceful woman, and suggests the idea of salting the claim themselves, and make the grafter buy it back. They immediately proceed to do this, and pour barrels of crude petroleum over the claim and in the low places. The grafter is apprised of the fact that there is oil on the salted claim that he sold, and hurriedly buys it back. After an inspection he soon finds out that it is a fake claim. Will Harrington and his wife return to their ranch with an increased bank roll. -Moving Picture World, August 5, 1911, p. 310.
