Story Summary:
A daughter has to deal with a father who only loves her brother. The boy was raised to take over the father's industry while the daughter was bundled off to boarding school. Then the daugher leaves the school and becomes a wife and a mother. Her father has continued to pour all his love and energy into the raising of her brother who is now part of the company. One day, while visiting the plant, the son is murdered by a deranged worker and the father is thrown into utter despair. The daughter visits the father who has lost his bearings and instead of accepting her greatfully, he demands to know why she lived when the son had not! The daughter consoles her addled father by sacrificing her own son, which the father believes to be her dead brother. - Dana Driskel
