Story Summary:
Jimmy Mason was blind and lived with brother in their cabin in the mountains. Jimmy longed for the good things of life and when a noted specialist came to the village, he took pity on the hapless youth and promised to restore his sight. Jimmy was sent to town and the doctor, after giving him a pair of glasses with the advice not to remove them, within a certain length of time, sent him forth. But sight was so welcome to Jimmy that he wandered about the city admiring its beautiful hotels and streets. He saw and grew acquainted with a girl who discarded him promptly when his money gave out. And then, walking out on the decks, Jimmy fell in with some dock roustabouts, who, for the sake of a joke, tore off the shaded glasses. Stricken blind, the boy fell on the pier. Meanwhile, the brother, alone in the mountains, grew restless. He went to town, traced his wayward brother and rescued him just when the latter was about to step into the sea. Happy in his love for his brother, Jimmy, now blind forever, returned to his cabin in the hills. - Moving Picture World, March 8, 1913
