Story Summary:
Wealthy Kingdon Hollister, infatuated with a girl he believes to be the maid of the wealthy Clevelands, gets his sympathetic friend, Officer Callahan, to lend him his uniform to impress her. The girl, in reality Bernice Cleveland, is attracted to Kingdon, and pretends to be the maid. Mayor Dave McCullough of Sawtooth, Arizona, in New York to hire gunman Jake the Priest to rid his town of desperado Cold-Deck Dallas, offers the job to Kingdon, after the latter, posing as Callahan, knocks Jake cold. Kingdon agrees to clean up Sawtooth within twenty-four hours once Bernice agrees to marry him if he does. With the help of a Vigilance Committee, Kingdon accomplishes his task. Both fathers of the engaged couple are upset at the planned marriage until the truth about their real identities is revealed. During the wedding, Kingdon again pummels Jake when the latter reaches for his gun, but Jake explains that he was only offering it as a wedding gift. - AFI
