Story Summary: Ernest Morgan jilts Janet Barnes for the wealthy Suzette Sparks. Piqued, Janet sends Ernest a postcard of the ornate mansion next door, informing him that the estate is her new home. When her unfaithful lover writes that he and his bride plan to visit her on their honeymoon, Janet arranges with the mansion's caretakers to use the home while its owner, Jules Graham, is visiting his country estate. The couple arrives and Janet entertains them so regally that Ernest soon comes to regret jilting her. Meanwhile, Jules arrives home and, after discovering Janet's charade, secretly masquerades as the butler. Ernest tries to make love to Janet, but she pushes him into the lake, and the newlyweds depart in anger. Jules, however, has fallen in love with Janet, so he reveals his true identity and proposes. -AFI |
