Carol, on a shopping tour, togged out in all her splendor, drops her perfumed handkerchief. Walking along, the two pals, Billy and Johnny, spy it and both makes a rush for it, each gaining an end, with the result that the little white square is torn in two. Carol pacifies the two young gentlemen and gives each one of her cards, but the friendship between the two is "off". The eventful night of their call upon Carol finally draws round and Johnny, going to the florist's to purchase some flowers, comes upon Billy already in the florist shop. One will not be outdone by the other and when they have completed their purchases Johnny finds himself the possessor of an immense bower of roses, while Billy has secured a young palm tree. By opening both doors of the shop, they manage to squeeze out. Then comes the problem of getting into their respective taxis which is finally solved by opening the tops. Arrived at Carol's house, each tries his best to gain her favor, and she informs them that when one proves untrue she will marry the other. Billy comes upon an advertisement lauding the claims of a certain vampire person who guarantees the to break any heart for the nominal sum of five dollars. Immediately he "looks her up" and the result of the mysterious interview is that Johnny receives a note to be at a certain apartment at a certain time. Carol also receives an anonymous message to be at the same place, where she will see the perfidy of her lover. Johnny arrives on the minute, quickly followed by Carol. The vampire's charm "works like a charm" and Johnny falls under her spell to the great sorrow of Carol and the boundless joy of Billy, who rushes out to commend the vampire. She straightway works the charm on him. This is too much for Carol, who denounces the vampire and calls her a cat. But the vampire professes violent love for Carol, tears off a wig and before Carol stands a man. Billy and Johnny fall in a dead faint and the "vampire" embraces the surprise-loving Carol.
