The young man is wounded by the thief, and the aged miner, in return for the many kindnesses he has received at the hands of his young neighbors, places his gold in their mine, thus enabling them to return to civilization, whilst he returns to his work.

Unique Occurences

Described as not only a “thrilling” Western but also a romance with a love story interwoven throughout, this film was one of the last produced in La Mesa before the move to Santa Barbara.

Additional Info

An interview with the film’s lead actor George Periolat revealed that the actor was very interested in film make-up and prostetics, leading to the assumption that he had done his own make-up for “Where There’s A Heart”. Periolat frequently created signature looks for his characters, “If any character comes up at the studio that requires careful handling, the director will say : ‘Let George do it.’ " - The Photo-Play Journal; July 1917; p. 38- 39
